Subtle threads of lavender, mint and grey silk accent the natural silver grey of this beautiful scarf. Handwoven using handspun yarn from our flock of Finnsheep.
Our scarves are all handmade on our farm from our sheep's wool and alpaca fiber! Each scarf starts when our sheep and alpacas are sheared, or get their yearly haircut. I carefully sort their fiber into different grades depending on it's quality and end use. I then hand wash the wool in small batches. The next step in the process is carding/combing. Depending on the length of the fiber and it's end use I will either hand comb or hand card the fiber. This step aligns the individual wool fibers so they are running parallel to each other and prepares the wool for handspinning. I then spin the combed/carded wool on one of my spinning wheels transforming it into the yarn that I then handweave on one of my weaving looms. The end piece is an item that will last you a lifetime and is completely and humanly produced here on our farm!
